OT - INTC - It's notworthy that although INTC officially
launched it's claimed 50% faster on apps, 25% increase in gaming
8700 and 8700k chips (gauged against their 7700 series), they've
now been out of stock and impossile to get for....seems like about
6-8 weeks now. And B and H photo will 'reserve' one for you when
(no date) it's in stock, but at a price point of $414, when the
official price was supposed to be $359, I believe. INTC doesn't
really need to do a 'phantom lauch' to keep AMD CPU's at bay, as
AMD's 1700 and 1800 Ryzen chips really don't match up too well, at
least in gaming, with INTC's 7700, and even some 6700 chips. I
think the reason anybody's buying Ryzen is either they're using it
for non-gaming purposes (yes, 8 cores might be helpful there), or
the chip + mobo is a value proposition vs. INTC, if you want to
stay within a budget. Or maybe the Ryzen launch was flawed by poor
drivers, and that's been addressed. But my experience with AMD
firmware revisions has been pretty miserable, at least with their
graphics cards - often, they listed 'alpha' updates that should
have been beta patches, given how buggy they were.
On a completely OT topic, I've a small position of Lionsgate
film for a very long time, and was about to pull the trigger the
other day, but got distracted. Well, they reported earnings, and
their A and B shares are both up around +7% or so. Probably a good
day to liquidate.
