OT - NVDA INTC
etc.

OT - NVDA -

As I thought might
happen, the street is digesting the beats on all fronts, and
revised upwards guidance, as the stock gain 6%. Of concern to me is
that their 'Volta' AI chips are selling much better than planned,
and have great room to grow. The analyst thought them in
competition with, and better than, INTC's Nervana chips which are
part of the heart of it automobile AI initiative. One of the
analysts attributes INTC's 'shotgun marriage' to hated AMD as their
attempt to counter the Volta chips. Playing catch-up is never a
great position to be in, particularly if this is a 'patch the
problem until we can really address it' situation. I notice that
INTC has been having notable down days almost all this week, but
they're still not all that far from 52 week highs. One might say
common market sense says liquidate some INTC and put it in NVDA
(like I planned to do when NVDA was 100 points lower). But it's
always hard to tell how much of a threat we're talking about. At
least I find that difficult.

I had posted
an article here some time ago from Tom's Hardware, which exposited
INTC's new chip architecture - a core around which 'modules' could
be connected by bridges in whatever configuration one desired.
Seems like a grand idea to me - ready-made customization, with no
new chip-design involved.. As to how significant that is, well,
that's a different question.
