OT - INFN
options

OT - INFN Options. I haven't thought this through - in
terms of selling a good chunk of NOK yesterday for a loss, and
whether an options gain would trigger a wash sale rule.
But.....looking at Nov. 10th calls - the stock itself is trading
around $8.06 right now. If you sold nov 10 stk 8.50 calls, you
could probably get .40 cents for them. And if it finished ITM
(unlikely, as they'd need some upside surprise), your effective
sale would be $8.90 - the .90 representing a fair percentage of the
total price of the stock at the moment. If you sold call with stk
$8.00, you'd probably get .60 for them, if I'm not misreading the
call tables. If it drops post earnings, you pocket the
.60/sh. The Joker in the deck is that we've seen huge price
movements upon earnings (I won't forget -20% on NOK anytime soon).
So if they've got something up their sleeve, such as great forward
guidance - one might wish that they had just stayed in the stock,
as $8.90 as a sale might seem paltry compared to a very big move.
But if one bets on the general trend of capex drought - well, I
sold 1/2 my position @$8.28 yesterday. That .40 premium at stk
$8.50 wouldn't produce a ton of profit, but it might salve a savage
downward move a bit, and make 'slogging with it through the sewers'
(an analyst's advice after it fell from about $12 to about $8
several CC's ago, on a very bad CC) a bit more bearable. I may well
do that.

Also, of note, the earnings
announcement isn't supposed to be after market close tomorrow,
rather than the open. Hope the note is right about that:
