OT OT Market
volatility
OT - Since it's been so quiet here, thought I might go way
off-topic with this:
marketwatch.com/st...t_news
Short story: with VIX near record lows, the implications are
that people expect that this market will just keep going upward.
So, remembering those days when triple-digit DOW downdrafts, let's
say -300, would all these complacent investors flip out? I wonder
what a pre-emptive military strike on North Korea would look like?
On the other hand, the market bears haven't been right for a long
time. One reads 'the end is near' stories and the market just kites
higher. I believe congress is either in process or has passed a
resolution that, except in the case of the US being under attack,
President Wacko cannot push the 'nuclear button' which sends
missiles flying within 4 minutes without congress agreeing,
curtailing an ability all presidents up to now have had. While
congress has always been in favor of increasing the power of their
branch of government, on this issue I think it's also an
acknowledgement that even the Republicans are scared of Trump's
impulsivity.
