OT - NOK

OT - NOK

Here is a rather tepid review of NOK's nearest cellphone offering. I'd think that if this is marketed to 3rd world countries, the relatively low-res display is irrelevant. Not sure if China is so competitive that other phones at this price point provide real competition.

zdnet.com/pr.../a>

And - I really don't know what to make of this. I generally take such articles where someone is touting their 'expert knowledge' about a 'must-buy' stock.

marketwatch.com/st.../a>

So, I've still been mulling buying some NVDA even at these prices. My rationale is similar to that of NOK and its sector: The demands for and applications of AI related products going forward can do nothing but grow. I think we're at the beginning of a period where AI computers and such will be a bigger booming sector than people think. Some (like IBM) say they're close enough to AGI (Average General Intelligence) computers that we'll see them in 5-10 years.

So, is he blowing smoke, or is Fujitsu something to consider seriously? Is it the real game-changer (like Intel/Micron's 'Optane' solid state memory?), or if you take into account all the other factors (competitive chips, how big a part of Fujitsu's business would be impacted, etc. etc.) he is exaggerating without knowing other crucial data? Are NVDA and AMD really going to be that challenged?

Also, concerning Intuitive Surgical - I've watched them go from the 500's now around $960/sh. If one thinks about it, that 'booming demand' for AI leads to some pretty interesting products that never existed in much of any form before: I was surprised at first, and then it was clearly a no-brainer: One can use AI reality to train new surgeons to perform operations, rather than have them learn their craft on 'victims' of their early years in practice. Or - the obvious - long distance surgery (or letting the computer do the work - more accurately than human hands can do) will be a part of the future. IoT apparently is going to mean a lot more than just telling Alexa to turn up the thermostat. So where are the best opportunities. lt cap first mentioned Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) a fair while ago. I wish I had placed a bet on them then.

I was cautiously optimistic that HMD Global would penetrate the tough Chinese Market, but the CEO of HMD just resigned, so I am now doubting that HMD is doing well. That said, if they bring on board the right guy, I believe it is not too late.
