OT - networking

INFN is really getting pushed around, post CC - a high
of $15.14 and a low of $13.90 - that's a lot of territory to cover.
NOK seems straightening out - up now - a bit curiously, ALU
is advancing today more, in terms of percentage, than NOK is. I
would expect that ALU's price may not be a factor, as I think NOK
would keep the offer the same, and I wonder if there is some
'threshold' % of stock owned that lets them force a sale of
remaining shares. Seems a bit heavy handed if so, but I really
wouldn't know how that works for sure. At this price, NOK is
yielding 2% div. - given that the idea is to wait a long time with
this stock, that would be a nice steady stream (one supposese) as
the years pass.

CIEN has come back to life
somewhat, altho shy of 20 still. I'd think INFN would be the next
stock the market revalues appropriately, but then, I never thought
I'd see it as a sub-13 stock. 52 week high is not far from double
the low price today - and what's changed? Their CC was pretty good.
Yes, there's the worry of 'slowdown', and perhaps they were
overpriced above 20. But to lose that much market cap with really
no substantive bad news? But historically, yes, this stock will
drive you crazy is you ask 'why' questions.

Also
- OT - It hard for me to understand why Liongate (LGF) has been
chopped in half. Yes, they're almost done with the 'hunger games'
series, but they've made so many deals, with so many entities, it's
hard for me to really understand why those synergies don't count
for beans. High of ~40 and now sub 20? Sold 2/3 of a realatively
small position in the mid 30's, but still.

INFN has had wild swings. I bought more in AH after
the earnings were released, the company had a good quarter, it
continues to grow 20%+ yet the market dropped its price down to the
$12 level in AH, I bought more around $12.25, it was a gift,
frankly.
Re the market, I tend to think
this rally lasts a couple of weeks, it needed a bounce, even if
technical. Fundamentally speaking, there are already stocks
at very decent valuations, INFN and CSCO just to mention two.
However, I also believe this is not done trying to bottom, it
could head lower. Where? Maybe 1700s??

One more thought on INFN: Analysts said their Metro
Networks product would pressure Gross Margins, that has yet to
happen, furthermore, during this past CC, the company talked about
gross margins reaching the 50% level in future quarters, that is
damn good for a hardware company.

One caveat, I did not realize the S&P had moved close to its
50 DMA, it is about 34 points below that as I write this. I
believe that is the level to watch closely as it has become
resistance.
