OT - CIEN, chips

OT - Sold 5 calls of CIEN SEpt. 7th, stk $27 for .91
cents. IIRC, there have been times when the CC was good, the shares
popped, but then backed down. So while the extra week doesn't bring
me much more than the Aug. 31st calls, maybe that pattern will
happen. (Or maybe it won't, there is no real logic to
this.)

Nvidia is down almost 5% on their lowered
guidance, saying that the demand for high end videocards for mining
is over. I'm still a believer in them. New cards will be announced
Aug. 20th, and will have some of their AI features incorporated,
which AMD cannot hope to match. One of which will be real-time ray
tracing, good for gaming. From what I've read, it may be that video
card prices will be permanently higher. And there's an
interesting article I read on Nvidia bringing the best AI chips to
datacenters - much faster than INTC's chips, but that INTC is able
to counter by software to speed up their chips in existing
datacenter use. So there's a case to be made to stick with Intel
for cost effectiveness, but the AI lead Nvidia has is a big
one.

I am mulling whether to shift some more
funds into Nvidia and Intuitive Surgical. I bought the AI/Robotics
fund some time ago, and it's pretty much been a money loser, even
though it's portfolio includes NVDA and ISRG. I may just re-deploy
that directly into those stocks.
