Re: EA's Star Wars must be
getting a boost from the movie
Jester,
Not having seen the movie, I can't 'feel' the hysteria over it.
And I don't know how those big Yoda dolls with a lightsaber are
doing - altho they were heavily discounted a couple of weeks before
launch. I did see at Target what I would call 1/2 size (of a human)
statues (too big to be called dolls) of an empire trooper and
another Yoda representation. And I think they 'talk' with
various phrases or whatever. I think a year out or so people
who actually bought these are going to feel foolish buyer's regret,
unless they have very young kids - where are you going to stash
this giant thing? On your front lawn? Or in the trash
maybe.
I think you're right in the meantime - EA will probably clean up
on as the wave of fandom swells. When the New York Times
gives this kind of hyped film a score of 90, that kind of stamp of
approval translates into pretty much a lock on film revs. Altho the
game has a 72 metacritic rating (and a 4.9 user rating), that
probably doesn't matter. A good number of years ago I recall the
board (or at least me, lol) fretting that ATVI's Spiderman game
might be something of a bomb with a 75 rating. But fans ruled the
day then, and probably will now, I'd think.
