I did, with some trepidation, buy some new shares of CIEN
@$42.93, stk $43, expy 3/15 (it's rather strange, but there *is*
another modest jump between the 3/8 and the 3/15 premium
on those calls, and going with the later date seems worth it,
regardless that earnings are on Mar. 5th). My trepidation being
that the shares have come so far, so fast, that they may be
overpriced here - it's hard to tell. But they're starting to bump
up to where the friendly analysts' PTs are. The return of about 5%
lured me in. If the price drops, well, Jon has proven that selling
and re-selling calls on this stock works, given that one can
think of it as a longer term holding.
So far, I've had a fair amount of shares called away in the
$30's. A nice profit, but I never figured there's be this terrific
run-up in Jan-Feb on no grand news.
Selling calls on a bit less than 50% of my NOK has worked out
for the moment. The shares got called away, but the .39 cents
premium stk. $6 let me get out with a small profit, and probably
right-sized my position. We'll see.
