I have not heard from our Commander in Tweet about this
wonderful market

Nobody is suprised he takes credit on the way up and none of the
blame on the way down, despite a large part of this being directly
his fault with the "easy to win" trade war, and the self-imposed
govt shutdown because a couple of TV personalities told him to do
it, and the spiraling out of control White House. He has also
foolishly attacked the Fed over and over, so when they do something
he doesn't like he views that as a personal attack, which makes him
lash out more, which leads to rumors (which may well be true) he
has tried to fire Powell, which leads to more market losses and
more attempts at damage control. He is his own worst enemy.
As Sen Corker said, who recently flipped from loyal to 'so done
with this crap',

It still baffles me that he would get so many people to vote for
him when the man is clearly not well in the head. It shows
how many idiots are out there!

It's even more baffling that so many of them *still* believe in
him, despite all of the corruption and illegal activity, the
filling of the swamp, lack of wall, and his only two real
accomplishments being tax cuts for the rich (including himself) and
prison reform, which isn't particularly hard. Despite all of this,
they still rabidly support a guy who clearly doesn't care about
people like them and never has done in his life. That's what I find
so scary about it. That lack of accountability. I do believe he
could shoot someone on the street, even a white person, and his
base would still support him, and some would deny it ever happened
and call it fake news.

I am still hopeful that those marginal voters that voted for him
(those who voted against Hilary, and those who only voted for him
for the tax cuts) are now realizing that they got dealt a bad
deal, and will vote against him in 2020. I would guess they
are enough to turn the electoral vote against him.
Then there are those who now see their 401K savings down
some 20%, they cannot be for him anymore. The tax cut matters
little if you are down so much.
That said, I am afraid that if he gets a deal with China,
it could garner him more support. Folks just don't see the
bigger picture.
The decision pull out of Syria is jut another reminder
that this guy operates in a world devoid of any logic, reason and
loyalty to our Allies. Let alone going back on your
word/commitment. Our credibility is gotta be at
an all-time low.

I met someone the other day, a building contractor, who told me
he was a strong supporter of Trump. He said that when he went into
a store to buy a chisel, of the 8 available, only one was made in
the USA. He also called Walmart "China-mart", in a derogatory
way.
My take is this: Pretty much on almost any issue you can name,
there are a huge number of people who don't understand how the
...(fill in the blank - economy, military, government, foreign
relations, et al) actually work. They are, ironically, much like
Trump himself in this respect. But like him, they *think* they know
how these institutions and protocols work. So, for instance, this
guy sees chisels mostly from China, and buys the Trump narrative
that the biggest economic problems are that places like China are
stealing USA jobs. It never occurs to them that the reason all
these jobs have gone overseas are not unfair trade practices (which
of course they pick up from Trump), but that US workers can't, and
never will, be able to match developing countries on wages and
costs. So yes, they're fully behind a trade war, because Trump has
told them this is what's been eroding job growth at time. Even as
we have record employment. It'd be interesting to see how the job
growth in the US is segmented - i.e., white collar, blue collar,
industrial vs. service, etc.
