OT - NOK
OT - NOK - Nok and China's Tencent have announced a joint
venture to develop other uses for 5G. Up 4 cents today. I'm still
wondering what it is that blew them down steadily from above
$6.
I'm comtemplating selling calls on some of my CIEN that I picked
up before the CC, and optioned out but they were OTM. It takes a
long ways out (like aug. 17th) to get $1 premium on the calls at
stk $27. I've been hoping it pokes above $27 so those premiums get
goosed just a bit. Don't see any sign of drivers before the next
CC, at which time Jon will option out his ancient shares once
again, and likely pocket the premiuim.

I think it is simply a case of very low expectations. Suri
has an opportunity to get some cred by delivering a decent quarter,
but more importantly good guidance. With expectations as low
as they are, the stock could do well if (a big if) management has
executed well this past quarter. What investors want to hear
is when the sector begins to grow again, plainly and simply.
Nokia has been delivering news which admitedly seem like feel
good but little substance for the near term, however, some may pay
off over the very long term.
The troubles that ZTE has encountered with the US, could also
help at the margins.

lt cap,
thanks for the roundup. I had been wondering whether companies
like NOK might benefit from the US trade war. But IIRC, it wasn't
long after Trump banished ZTE into foretold bankruptcy that he
changed his mind and lowered the barrier to survival, even possibly
thriving. That's what worries me most about him - he can change his
mind 10 times in 5 minutes, and doesn't know what the word 'policy'
means. That kind of uncertainty can create un-fixable economic and
trade distruptions. And I can't see it being popular with much of
anyone if he's able to throw this 'perfect' economy into ruin.
Altho, by the time the economic implications begin to hit, we'll be
past November, and he can blame it on the sane people who voted for
the Democrats. Smooth.
It's also interesting to me that earlier in his administration,
there was the comforting illusion that the 'adults' that surrounded
him would keep him from doing something monumentally dangerous or
stupid. I dont' hear anyone saying that now. Larry Kudlow? A
'TV personality' like Trump, not a competent economist. Although
Kudlow knows a good thing when he sees it: Two high-class hookers
and a mountain of cocaine in a Manhattan hotel bedroom. Too bad he
got arrested for it.

Agree with everything you said about Trump. It will
continue to be a wild ride.
