OT - AMD......and
NOK

AMD guided for lower Q4 earnings, and gets pummeled for
-11%. Made the whole sector fall. I didn't see specifics of their
call, so I don't know what other bad news or context was released.
Did see an article entitled AMD can't rely on cryptocurrency mining
to prop them up indefinitely, but then, I've heard that the price
inflation only applies to high-end graphics cards, which have been
selling above retail list for some time, given their 'mining
power'. And I'd think (I may be wrong), the benefits of that price
inflation falls mainly to NVDA, given that unless I've missed a
release, AMD has pretty much ceded the very top end graphics cards,
as they just can't compete with NVDA's 1080, 1080 Ti etc on new
Pascal architecture.

Given that AMD got
whacked so hard, it hit me that selling some NOK (which I've never
done) ahead of earnings might be a really good wager. But it hit me
too late - I see they're going to report before the bell, so
I'll just sit through another one. Consensus EPS is .06 - and the
market seems nervous enough and focused on earnings for reassurance
that if they miss, the punishment will probably be ugly. I
just hope that when the day comes that they beat estimates, the
enthusiasm will mirror present-day gloom.
