OT OT intc vs amd

OT - this article from ZDnet, a source I admire, compares each model of AMD vs INTC Windows processors - and picks AMD in every single priece tier except one. Not encouraging for INTC fan-boys like me. Again, lt cap is not great on timing but in the long run frequently right on outlook. In following it for many years, every time AMD's CPUs performed better than INTC's offerings, and also mostly at lower street prices, INTC has managed to still out fox them. This sounds like real trouble. Wonder if AMD's meteoric rise the past year has priced some/a lot of this in, or this is just the beginning. Anyone thinkng of buying AMD? Anyone thinking of buying more INFN - whole sector is in retreat but INFN wins the 'whipping boy' award by a mile.

I bought 1k more INFN at 8.70 the other day. Buying AMD while it is up scares me, so I will just be watching it. I do not follow it closely enough.

Intel Factors Add up to Analyst Concern -- Market Talk

Font size: A | A | A

1:35 PM ET 8/15/17 | Dow Jones

13:35 ET - Intel (INTC) in late July reported a solid 2Q, yet Bernstein Research analyst Stacy Rasgon hears alarm bells. He points to several factors: Notebook chip shipments in the quarter exceeded shipments of the notebooks themselves, average desktop prices fell year on year, and the company's annual growth target for its data-center group requires a strong 2H. In addition, strategy around operating expenditures has been a moving target and nonoperational income has boosted recent results. Individually, these factors wouldn't bother him, he writes in a report, but together, "they begin to sound more of an alarm." INTC's down 1.3% to $35.86, but was up roughly 4% between the 2Q earnings disclosure and Monday's close. (ted.greenwald@wsj.com
