NOK: Some recent contract
wins
Summariy of most recent contract wins:
“Nokia has recently made some advancement with its
AirScale and Airframe technology, which should ease the evolution
towards 5G. Leveraging this technology, the company has
successfully signed deals with various telecom operators around the
world who are trying to cope with the rising data demands of their
customers. It includes a 4.5G pro deal with ALTAN Redes in Mexico,
which is its largest deal ever in terms of revenue. Some other
operators who will be upgrading to 4.5G using Nokias technology
include TIM in Brazil and T-Mobile in the U.S, to name a few.
Considering the slowdown in Nokia’s top-line decline, such
deals may be revenue growth drivers in the coming quarters. In
addition, Nokia is set to launch 4.9G by the end of this year, so
we can expect 5G soon after that, which could allow the company to
return to revenue growth.”

OT - NOK and others - I think it was T-Mobil that said 2019 will
be the year they rollout 5g. I assume the obvious with NOK, I'd
think - Their 4.5 and 4.9G solutions are worth the cost of dev.,
etc. or they woundn't be selling such products. Not sure why
clients would want this incremental version, and be stuck with a
(lower? slower?) system. And I'd think they'd have to stick with it
even with 5g approaching. Not crucial, but I wonder if the clients
are in countries where 5g is not as important as more quickly
upgrading soon to be legacy systems.
AMD lost 20% yesterday on a very nasty CC. Down but not out,
considering the stock is still 5X of what it was a year or
so.
Auto sector getting whacked on declining y/o/y sales comparison.
Lt cap predicted that some time ago. Nice call. I think if one is
patient, Ford's almost 6% dividend is attractive. But if there's an
impending recession, and autos are the leading edge of that, it
could be a long wait. And the assumption of keeping the divident is
often a liability, of course.

ADSS OF NOKIA CORPORATIONWe raise our 12-month target by $1 to
$6.50, 23.2X our '17 earnings per ADS estimate of $0.28, compared
to its five-year forward average P/E of 24.3X, justified by the
challenging market environment. NOK reported Q1 earnings of $0.03
vs $0.03, in line with the consensus. Sales were ahead of
expectations due to stabilization in Mobile Networks sales (-1%).
Nokia Technologies also performed better than our expectations on a
new licensing agreement. While guidance for a low single digit
decline in end markets was maintained, we think that the industry
cycle is nearing its trough.|US;NOK|7244|FI|215985
