Piper supporting
EA
Piper Jaffray is giving cover to EA saying it's a Buy regardless
of Star Wars sales. Funny how that works. Earlier this year the
analysts were pumping it on through the roof Star Wars sales
forecasts. Now the message is to ignore those. He also says Star
Wars should meet forecasts anyway thanks to a variety of guesswork
compounded upon more guesswork, aka goal seeking.
First he assumes significant FIFA 16 sales growth despite the
fact sales were down in the UK first week and first month. Then he
assumes some digital penetration of 20% for FIFA. Then he figures
Star Wars must be higher because EA said it was their biggest
digital launch (let's ignore the fact launch will probably have
more digital penetration than lifetime). Then he makes an
assumption on Star Wars digital penetration. Remarkably, all of
those assumptions combined together produce the result he was
seeking!
Meanwhile, the concurrency stats continue to appear a little
soft. Peak player count on 3 platforms last 24 hours is under 200K.
Few seem to be talking about the game too. Most that have played it
got bored after a few hours with the limited amount of content.
