Re: NOK Earnings
lt cap,
Hadn't thought of the DRIP idea of, I presume, delaying taxing
of that dividend - which, if one owns massive amounts of NOK, is
substantial. I would assume that the European tax on capital
gains/dividends would be applied at the time of the dividend, as I
can't see another way that they'd catch this cash distribution.
IIRC, the European tax has been about 25-30% - socialism tends to
not show prejudice in favor of the rich when it comes times to chip
in.
The other question I have is not a fair one at all, given that
I'm not an analyst and you're not a CEO, but let me ask it anyway:
The size of the recent blowdown is unexpected, and daunting. And as
you say, it's not hard to get a fair idea of how your sales
pipeline is/will be doing. (Well, tell that to INFN, eh?) Given
that Suri seems not to know how business is doing, and there
definitely is a capex slowdown (and I keep wondering why that
doesn't end up in a price war?) is the fundamental long term story
for NOK intact, simply running into significant, but short-term
headwinds, or does all the uncertainty surrounding all the optical
networking stocks (INFN, CIEN, etc.) also bring into question the
very positive long term story? (Yeah - not a fair question to ask
you, kind of like asking will Suri give another surprisingly bad
account going forward, so feel free to ignore it at your
discretion.)
