OT - Optical networking

OT - opt net - Nokia announced introduction of its 'Passive Optical LAN' network, and is apparently getting slightly punished. But then, it's only the most beaten of a sector that no one seems to like at the moment - INFN and CIEN also down. And CSCO, which had been on fire the past month or so, retreated significantly the last two days - and today, Merill announces cutting it to 'market perform'. I can understand that perhaps it's come too far, too fast, but it does seem a bit strange that some people apparently knew it was time to sell before Merrill hit it with that 'bad' piece of news.

I am seriously thinking about whether to add more NOK here. I also wonder whethere NOK could be subject to a 'paradigm shift' the way InPhi's surprise revelation of its product meaningfully disrupted INFN's  and CIEN's products and plans. Theoretically, I'd suppose anything is possible - and the ability of InPhi's people to keep this secret is unsettling. I just wonder whether all companies are equally exposed to such a thing, or some more than others, for technical reasons.
